"Opening today's mammoth Metal feast was Bad Earth, a quartet representing Denbigh, North Wales. They kicked off the show with a powerful sound and meaty riffs that sat perfectly between Hard Rock and Stoner Metal. The gravelly vocals of Steve Coxon also added a Grunge influence in there. The resulting sound had equal nods towards Kyuss and Clutch as it did to the classic Zepp and Sabbath sound. Bad Earth was a good way to ease in the show and matched the vibes of the pleasant sunny weather. They had a mixture of slow, Doomy paced songs, and a few faster tempo ones with a hard hitting bass sound. In particular Bad Earth had a tight drummer with a great snare sound and some cool fills, whilst the guitars would sometimes add in psychedelic touches and wah solos. Vocalist Steve really gave it welly and the whole band poured passion into their craft. This was especially evident in their set highlight "Tough Luck", which their frontman said was about a breakdown of a relationship. Though their sound is one I've heard many times, Bad Earth performed really well and hit the sweet spot, kicking off today's epic show on a high. 8/10."

"Next on stage are Bad Earth who are a 3 piece Hard Rock band from Denbigh.
These guys instantly catch my eye as soon as they start their set with powerful riffs and thunderous drum beats, from the get go these guys had everyone in awe.
With Steve on vocals , if you close your eyes and imagine Lemmy mixed with Zakk Wylde that’s the kind of vocals which are produced, really rough deep booming, along with that he has the cheeky balls to the wall fun attitude needed and that’s exactly what this front man projects.
With songs like ‘Cruel God’ that punch out some strong vocals, with drums building up, quickening the tempo mixed with crunchy guitar riffs, there is nothing you cannot not like about this band."

"Since their début proper a little over six months ago, Bad Earth are developing a bit of a folklore status… It’s a strange meeting of cultures… Here are these tough looking Hillbillies, a doppelgänger for 1970 German pornstars (male) playing to, and attracting the cosmic kids of Rhyl and beyond… You can take a band out of Denbigh, but you’ll never take Denbigh out of a band… Or in this case, you can shove Denbigh into an audience, as those present went wild!
As Bad Earth went about their business like an axe murderer practising in an abattoir, there was real blood, sweat, glass and beers in the pit of this excellent venue. The audience travelled from mad to sublime, a barmaid is scurrying between broken limbs with a dustpan and brush, scooping up shattered glass, there’s bare feet on the dancefloor, there’s blood on the dancefloor, it’s murder on the dancefloor, it’s beautiful.
A crazed girl escapes from the clutches of her carer and grabs the microphone – the singer obliges and she proceeds to scream incessantly – she has a great screaming voice – she screams and screams, and the band played on – she screamed some more before the men in white coats grab her, kicking and screaming into the ambulance.

Team Bad Earth for Life! They’ll torment and bend your world, you’ll paint their name on your leather jacket and listen to their stuff on your iPods as you have your feet sewn back on in A+E.

Love it.. Fuckin’ love it…"

"I’m not sure how long these Denbigh freaks have been going but the sign above the door says, ‘Bad Earth – We Don’t Fuck About’ – and fuck about they didn’t…
Slick, mean and professional, (I say professional as in their delivery, not the fact that they’ll be paid petrol money for tonight – hardly a profession!).
They call themselves stoner rock – but apart from their stoner appearance, there’s very little else to compare them to a genre that sits nicely amongst many others.
Speed freak stoner is perhaps a better description… Stoner Thrash? – They owe more to Primus, Megadeth and Slayer than The Steppes. It’s steak driven guitar music, as in, full blooded and meaty riffs, chugging on all four, as does the battered old bus I can imagine they live in.
It’s a great set, I love the fact it’s about the riffage and not about guitar wankery. The orange cordial I was drinking during this long and dry January kept me at bay as the crowd got excited enough to join in and hoist band members on their shoulders. Bad Earth return the compliment.
Well worth checking out… And long awaited recordings must be on the horizon PLEASE..!!"

"Bad Earth from the historic danger fields of Denbigh have changed beyond recognition since they were last reviewed within these cyber-pages. Main man Steve Coxon axed the front man and the bassist into tiny pieces, and put them through an industrial mincer, selling them via his popular burger van on the Colomendy Industrial Estate. He took over vocal duties himself; recruiting a new bassist (who’ll probably end up being a hotdog).
The result is Bad Earth have moved away from their stoner-speed groove to a more hard-metal sound, which makes them probably the area’s only metal band, in the true sense of the word. Seeing this colossus on stage leaves you in no doubt that you’re never going to ask them to babysit for you or take your gran out shopping – they’d scare the living shit out of them!"

"First up on the night (and freshly escaped from the madhouse) was Denbigh’s BAD EARTH. This quintet brought fuzz, ferocity and fun straight from the get-go, with a bassist that had not just ants, but an entire ecosystem in his pants, judging by his manic movements. In addition to this was the offspring of Kirk Windstein playing guitar in such a way that would make his Crowbar-fronting pappy proud. I asked this fine gentleman whether or not they had a demo at all, and he let me know that this was only their third real gig(!). I have to say, with a killer set and a simply sensational track called ‘Cruel God’, I’m sure these guys will have no problem tearing up the local and (hopefully) national music landscape."

"Tonight, my handwritten attention lies with Denbigh’s Bad Earth. Never heard of them before, although the name intrigued me because of that brilliant Alien Matter song Bad Earth. So I was slightly preconceptually interested just by the name, and there’s a lot to be said about choosing a name for your band… Will it Google easily? Is it shit? For the record, Bad Earth is an ace name.
Looking at their camp and noticing the check shirts and 1910’s sideburns and moustache appearance while the other bands were on, images of them living in log cabins leapt through my head. The kind where they’re shooting bears, shagging chickens and chewing tobacco. First impressions can be so wrong, as when they took to the stage, it was more than evident that they actually shoot tobacco, shag bears and chew chickens!
Stoner rock is the dish of the day… Yet it’s played as if they’ve been snorting amphetamines with the transvestive bar staff beforehand. It’s cracking stuff, it’s fast stoner rock; either that or they just wanna get home quicker (back to the cabin where Momma Bear awaits). Good guitar work and their style reminds me of Soundgarden if you take Black Hole Sun out of the repertoire. They look the part, they sound the part and where there’s loads of bands playing loads of other stuff, Bad Earth are a band apart. If I was a booking man, I’d be booking them for Focus Wales next year and if I was in the band I’d be looking to play all those biker festivals too like The Rock & Blues Bash etc…
A good find…"
